The FDACC finished the third year of partnership the
Covington Independent Public Schools with this John G.
Carlisle after school program, serving students at John
G. Carlisle Elementary and Thomas Edison Elementary.
Duveneck Center dance instructors, Lexie Anderson and
Sarah Statt, teach a fusion of dance from ballet to hip
hop. Lexie and Sarah are students at Northern Kentucky
University, and have been working with the "Let It Shine"
program since February of 2007.
Kim Gerwe, a graduate of Thomas More College, joined
the FDACC "Let It Shine" team in 2008. Kim teaches
visual arts, and has a track record of success teaching at
local elementary schools. Kim also was the instructor for
the FDACC's 2008 Summertime Kids Mandala Adventure
project.
"Let It Shine" is funded through a Kentucky Department
of Education 21st Century Community Learning Center
Federal Grant. This program will continue through 2011.
