The FDACC explored school time arts programming in
partnership with the Covington Independent Public
Schools with this Glen O. Swing Elementary School
program.
Livin' the Arts is designed to bring art into the school day
in innovative ways that excites the students about
learning while tying the activities into Kentucky Core
Curricular Content for the Arts and Humanities.
In the 2007-08 school year, Livin' the Arts brought a
performing arts program to all fifth graders. This offering,
taught by Chris Guthrie, tied into core curricular content
in the Arts and Humanities and brought concepts to life
in activities and exercises.
Third grade students participated in a weekly dance
program, where they learned to dance individually and as
partners. This component tied into core curricular
content in Arts and Humanities incorporated geography
and culture as well as physical activity. This segment was
led by Rena Gibeau.
